Wrexham Glyndwr University to Host First Digital Futures Technology Conference

Leaders in technology and marketing will headline the first ever Digital Futures conference at Wrexham Glyndwr University.

The inaugural event takes place on Tuesday October 11, with keynote speakers from Google, The Rockart Agency, Superfast Business Wales and Click-Convert.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Maria Hinfelaar will open proceedings, reflecting on the University’s role in bringing research and technology to the forefront of industry, spearheaded by North Wales Business School and its world-leading Computing department.

Organisers Judith Alexander, Laura Gough and Christine Law hope this conference will be the first of many and look forward to welcoming up to 400 people over the course of the day.

“Digital Futures will really help boost digital knowledge in our local area and support people with their career or business,” said Judith.

“It’s very exciting to deliver a collaborative conference with our partners – the Federation of Small Businesses, NatWest and Businessline – around the importance and impact of online opportunities.”

Christine added: “We are thrilled to be hosting the conference at Wrexham Glyndwr; the response has already been hugely positive as there is a real desire to explore the digital market in our region.”

Among the topics to be discussed are content marketing, e-mail, mobile, social media and SEO.

Those in attendance can learn more about the tactics needed to succeed, as well as receiving hints and tips and vital lessons from the experienced presenters.

John Langley, Managing Director and Founder of Click Convert, launched the company as a way to educate and help business owners and marketing professionals.

He said: “I’m really honoured and looking forward to speaking at the inaugural Digital Futures conference.

“It’s an opportunity for us to talk directly to students and businesses about digital marketing, online retailing and the pitfalls and traps they could face, as well as how they can capitalise on opportunities that will help make them a success.”

John added: “I’ve learnt that a key issue with online retailing is isolation. You operate in a vacuum, you have no way of knowing how others are performing – are they busy or quiet, how much should conversions cost? You cannot beat having an expert on hand to guide you.

“Our concept is simple; to help every advertiser on the web fulfil their primary goal, turning clicks into conversions.

“Digital Futures is going to be a great event – we’ll see you there!”
