Wrexham PCSO’s in health awareness campaign

North Wales Police have joined forces with Health Challenge Wrexham on a summer long health awareness programme among staff.

Step into Summer was launched earlier this month at the divisional headquarters in Wrexham where 15 Police Community Support Officers received advice on healthy eating, exercise, lifestyle advice and health checks, including blood pressure and cholesterol checks.

The PCSO’s , divided into teams, have also been set a series of challenges over the next six weeks to improve their health and fitness while at work, including using a pedometer and eating five fruit and vegetables a day.

Prizes will be awarded to the team with the highest number of points.

The aim is to pilot the programme with this group before rolling it out among more staff in Wrexham. Andrew Lewis, Physical Activity Co-ordinator for North Wales Police and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “This demonstrates the our commitment to encourage all staff to follow a healthy, active lifestyle, while also increasing police visibility in local communities.”
