Youngsters urged to pick up a pencil for The Big Draw

Children are being urged to be quick on the draw for a celebration of the best in art in Swansea this month.

They’re being challenged to get involved with The Big Draw, a UK-wide month-long series of events for people of all ages and abilities organised by the Campaign for Drawing.

Big Draw events encourage everyone to expand the boundaries of drawing by experimenting with pencils, paint, charcoal, sand, clay, digital imagery, choreographed movement, vapour trails and much more.

No experience is necessary, just an eager mind and a creative enthusiasm.

Swansea Museum will be taking part in the Big Draw with two sessions at the Landore Collections Centre and the Tramway Centre in Swansea Marina.

It will be overseen by leading Swansea artists Paul Giuffrida and Trish Nicholls, who will be developing the theme of Projection and helping children and adults express creativity in a number of drawing styles.

The first workshop is a drop-in session at the Collections Centre on Saturday October 10 from 10am until 4pm. The second is scheduled for the Tramway Centre on Wednesday October 28- again from 10am to 4pm.

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is also holding events and workshops for Under 16s such as Drawing in 3D from Tuesday October 27 to Friday October 30 with the Saturday October 31 Drawing Disco open to all.

For more information please contact the Glynn Vivian Gallery Reception on 01792 516900 or Paul Giuffriday at Swansea Museum on 01792 653763.

All events are free but it’s advised to book as places will disappear quickly.
