Ysgol Rhosnesni First in Wales to Achieve Inclusion Award

WrexhamYsgol Rhosnesni in Wrexham has become the first secondary school in Wales to be awarded an ‘Inclusion Quality Mark’. The school gained its unique status as a result of a three day assessment, which focused upon a close scrutiny of the level of provision and care for pupils. Among the many positive features raised by the assessor it was noted that.

‘Ysgol Rhosnesni has an outstanding pastoral system in place with the clear aim of embedding inclusive practice in all elements of school life. It is a “permeating aspect”. This has a real impact on the standard and quality of education provided. The curriculum is both personalised and individualised – all the children matter’. The assessment process was co-ordinated by Assistant Headteacher Mrs J Blackburn who stated

‘The whole school community can be very proud of this achievement. It provides clear evidence of all the hard work and effort that goes into ensuring that all pupils have the opportunity to achieve to their potential, within a caring and supportive environment’.

This was echoed by Headteacher Mr David Hughes who said ‘I am delighted to gain this award, particularly as Ysgol Rhosnesni is the first secondary school in Wales to achieve this accolade. My thanks and congratulations are extended to all members of our school community’.
