The Fox family from Blackwood has made the commitment to ‘Get Active’ for a year, having been crowned Caerphilly County Borough Council’s ‘Get Active’ family for 2010.
The competition saw 31 families competing for the unique opportunity to become the face of the ‘Get Active’ campaign. Anna and Jamie Fox and their two sons Cory, 6 and Jake, 9, agreed to take on the challenge of improving their health and lifestyle throughout the coming year and continue the positive changes into the future.
After an action packed year as the ‘Get Active’ Family, October saw the end of the reign for the Carringtons, who were selected in 2008 and have been the face of the council’s Get Active campaign for the last 12 months.
Mark, Nicola, Callum and Ceiran are now handing over their title to Anna, Jamie, Jake and Cory Fox from Blackwood, who won this year’s competition and will represent the campaign for 2010.
The Fox family will receive many prizes and benefits throughout the year, including full family membership to CCBC’s leisure centres, free family ticket to Techniquest, free tickets to attend a concert at Blackwood Miners’ Institute, book tokens, an outdoor adventure activity day, arts workshops, sports equipment, an adult education course, free school meals (primary schools only) and free access to CCBC youth clubs, as well a grand prize.
Deputy Mayor, Cllr James Fussell said, “It was a pleasure to meet Anna, Jamie, Jake and Cory and I hope they have an exciting year as the ‘Get Active’ Family and make the most of all the facilities and services that Caerphilly County Borough Council has to offer.”
Nicola Carrington said, “We would like to wish the new ‘Get Active’ family the best of luck for the year to come. I hope they will enjoy the challenge as much as we did. It has been so much fun taking part in all the activities and we now have so many good memories with our boys.”
