SWALEC Plate draw

The draw for round two of the SWALEC Plate has been made and there are a number of fascinating encounters as the clubs aim to emulate last year’s winners Maesteg.

Kidwelly of Two West have been rewarded for their thrilling 21-19 round one success at Llandeilo with a home draw against Three West table toppers Crymych. The home side will need to pull out all the stops against their visitors who have a 100% league record to date this season.

There is an all -Three West clash at the Welfare Ground where Gorseinon will entertain Dunvant. With a 14-9 league victory over the Broadacre side already in the bag, Gorseinon will be confident of overturning Dunvant who narrowly defeated Cwmllynfell 26-25 in round one.

Abergavenny provided one of the shocks of round one when they travelled to Garndiffaith and knocked out the Three East leaders 20-14. They now face a Brynmawr outfit struggling in Two East and will look to make home advantage count at Bailey Park.

Caerphilly are having a difficult time in Two East and they have been drawn against a Penallta side that defeated Fleur de Lys 19-11 in round one. When the sides met in the league at Penallta it was the home side that came out on top 27-6 but the Castletown men will be hoping to kickstart their season at Virginia Park with a much-needed victory.

Another all-Two East clash will be at Penarth who play host to Rhydyfelin. Both sides had byes to round two and with the Seasiders already having a 24-17 success over their visitors in the league this season, they will be looking to cement a place in the round three draw.

Ammanford are pulling out all the stops in Two West and with only one defeat they top the table. Pontarddulais of Three West head to the Recreation Ground in round two and as they are also having a good season, the home side will need to be on top form to prevent an upset.
