A Feast of Books

A galaxy of children’s authors helped Pembrokeshire youngsters celebrate reading and books this week.

Bernard Ashley, Shoo Rayner and Sioned Lleinau entertained young readers at a special Children’s Book Fiesta at Haverfordwest Library last weekend.

As well as listening to story tales, young visitors were also able to take part in workshops and demonstrations, quizzes and competitions.

Organised by Pembrokeshire County Council, the Book Fiesta marked National Children’s Book Week – October 5th to 11 – by celebrating the joy of reading for pleasure.

Bernard Ashley, who specialises in gritty writing for older youngsters, read excerpts from his books including his new work for teenagers, No Way to Go.

Meanwhile younger readers enjoyed the work of Shoo Rayner, who told tales from his many books including How the Camel Got His Hump, Vorg World and The Pumpkin Man.

Others taking part included Sioned Lleinau who writes for Welsh readers, story teller and mask maker David Pitt aka The Crowman and book illustrator, Teresa Jenellen.
