AM calls for more to be done on dental hygiene

South Wales East AM Mohammad Asghar has questioned whether the Assembly Government has done enough to promote the importance of dental hygiene to Wales.

He drew the Minister for Health’s attention to observations from Stuart Geddes, the chairman of the British Dental Association, which point to the fact “that instances of gum disease and tooth decay are higher in Wales” than in any other UK nation.

Mr Asghar emphasised the importance of dental hygiene, particularly given “links between oral health and numerous other diseases and conditions”.
