The incident took place at what is known locally as ‘ Mud Mountain’, on the bike-path which runs between Croft Goch Road and Yr Hendre, Kenfig Hill.

During the incident, a 13-year-old girl was waiting for her friends when a man approached her and pulled at her clothing before making off through bushes in the direction of New Road cottages.

The description of the suspect has been given as tall, of slim build, wearing a black hooded top, black trousers and black workman-style boots.

Officers are currently conducting house to house enquiries.

DI Jason Redrup of Bridgend CID said: “This was a distressing incident for the young girl involved and we would ask anyone with information or who can assist in identifying this man to contact the police.

“As always, we would advise young people to be careful when out playing, and remember always to tell your parents and guardians where you are going. Don’t talk to strangers and stay with your friends.”
