Appeal for Witnesses: Fatal Road Traffic Collision M4 at Junction 43 Llandarcey, Neath

South Wales PoliceSouth Wales Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 5:10 am on Saturday 24th May 2014 on the Eastbound carriageway of the M4 Motorway at Jct 43 on slip road.

A white ‘63’ registered Vauxhall Corsa vehicle collided with the nearside barrier. As a result of the collision the 18 year old male driver who lived locally was pronounced deceased at the scene by the ambulance service. Two passengers in the vehicle were taken to Morriston hospital where they are being treated for minor injuries. At this time it is not believed that any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

A police family liaison officer has been appointed and is supporting the deceased next of kin. The coroner has been informed.

South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them. The Police would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision or who stopped to provide assistance, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle being driven prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details.

The M4 was closed for approximately 5 hours while police carried out initial investigations and recovered the vehicles. South Wales Police would like to thank the people affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.
