Appeal: Pharmacy Burglary: Gilfach Goch

Police in the Rhondda are continuing their investigations into a burglary of the Cooperative Pharmacy on High Street in Gilfach Goch which occurred at around 3.45am on Tuesday November 9th.

During the burglary a large quantity of insulin and Diazepam was stolen. The insulin, in particular could prove lethal if misused.

In addition other medications were also stolen including prepared medication including Allopurinol, Lansoprazole, Tiotropium with an inhaler, Aspirin, Simvastin, Doxepin, Amolodipine, Lisinopril, Rosuvastatin, Oilatum Plus, Bendroflumethazide and Doxazosin and Glutafin Bread and pasta shells and spedicaths,

The store manager disturbed the culprit when she attended the shop in response to the alarm and he made off on foot when disturbed.

The burglar is described as male, 5’9’’ tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a dark hooded top and carrying the drugs in a plastic basket from the shop.

Detective Inspector Andy Jones of Ton Pentre CID said: “The medicines stolen could have fatal consequences if taken without strict medical supervision.

“I am asking anyone who has been offered any of these drugs, or may know of their whereabouts to contact me.

“I appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of the High Street around the time of the incident early on Tuesday morning, and either witnessed the incident, or has information that may assist police enquiries to come forward.”
