Beaumaris RNLI assist yacht taking on water

The volunteer crew of Beaumaris Lifeboat were called out on Friday at 14.20 to assist a 26ft Westerly yacht that had started sinking off Penmon.

The boat had been anchored but with a falling tide the 2 male crew on board tried unsuccessfully to raise the anchor so the yacht ended up on the rocks resulting in a hole in the hull.

On arrival at the scene, the Lifeboat crew assisted with pumping the water out of the yacht but it was a losing battle so the crew of the Westerly were taken off the boat before it was then towed to Penmon beach.
