Welsh Broadcasting Forum’s first meeting

The first meeting of the newly-formed Welsh Broadcasting Forum was held in Aberystwyth on Saturday 12 June.

The Forum was established in March as a direct link between S4C and the channel’s audience.

After the meeting, John Walter Jones, Chair of the S4C Authority, said, “We’ve had a most constructive meeting. The Forum’s main task is to review the programme provision and deal with Welsh broadcasting matters and the role of S4C as part of the ongoing process of connecting with our viewers in accordance with S4C’s commitment to accountability.”

Ieuan Wyn, Chair of the Union of Welsh Societies, representing 26 national organisations said, “This first meeting was extremely constructive. Recommendations were put forward and discussions were held on a number of aspects including matters to do with the channel’s provision and its policies.”

As well as meeting annually the Forum will have regular dialogue with S4C in order to strengthen and make the most of the new partnership.
