Bourne: Manufacturing strategy delayed again

The First Minister has confirmed a WAG manufacturing strategy will now not be published until the autumn.

The latest delay has been announced after a challenge by the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Nick Bourne AM, during First Ministers Questions.

It follows a mistake last week, when Carwyn Jones AM claimed a strategy would be published “before dissolution”. He later admitted that was not the case.

It also follows three years and 11 months of previous postponements.

Mr Bourne said: “Not only does the First Minister have no idea what his civil servants are doing, he is also more than happy to completely ignore our manufacturing industry.

“This latest delay is absolutely unforgiveable. I don’t understand why it has taken so long to get a strategy in place.

“Nearly four years since the first promise and all we have had is yet another farcical postponement.

“Manufacturing is a crucial part of our economy, yet Labour-Plaid have completely ignored it throughout their flawed time in charge.”
