Caerphilly business makes a ‘smart’ move thanks to grant funding

A local business has become the first organisation in Caerphilly county borough to employ a new post at their company thanks to grant funding through the Community Economic Development Programme.

Smart Money Credit Union has been able to benefit from the Community Economic Development Programme, which aims to help build sustainable vibrant communities through the development of community economic activity and social enterprises.

Neil Bennett has been employed as an Administration Assistant at the company, and will help support the growth of Smart Money in Caerphilly county borough.

Cllr Ron Davies, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning said, “We are delighted to be able to help this company, and I would encourage more businesses to get in touch with the team to find out if they too could be eligible for funding support to help their organisation grow”.

Voluntary and community groups, charities, social enterprises, co-operatives and mutuals which are able to demonstrate that their project will benefit communities in Caerphilly county borough can apply for financial support.

Manager at Smart Money Credit Union, Andrina Davies said, “I would like to say thank you for the funding, which has enabled us to employ an additional member of staff; Neil has settled in well and is keen to learn and progress with Smart Money as we expand our membership in Caerphilly”.

This project has been supported by the Community Economic Development (CED) Programme delivered in partnership by a 6 valleys Local Authority consortium of Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Torfaen.
