Cancer patients need proper support after treatment’ says AM

Commenting on today’s claim by MacMillan that the health needs of cancer survivors are being ignored, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:

“The way in which cancer services are commissioned and planned in Wales – whether in terms of diagnosis, treatment, palliative care or after-care – is complex and complicated.

“The Assembly Government cannot afford to ignore a report like this. It highlights yet another example of how Labour and Plaid Cymru have allowed the NHS to develop in such a way where the level of service depends on where you live, not your medical needs.

“All too often decisions on how patients are treated are taken on financial grounds rather than the needs of the individuals concerned.”
