Cardiff Businesswoman to Inspire the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs

A company based at the Cardiff Business Technology Centre (CBTC) has been invited to take part in a new campaign to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.

The Big Ideas Wales was launched today by the Welsh Assembly Government and aims to foster a ‘can do’ attitude in young people so they can take their first steps into business.

Forensic Resources Ltd, launched by Abi Carter at CBTC in January 2008 is taking part in the campaign as an inspirational example of what young people can achieve.

In just two and a half years Abi has built up this consultancy firm from scratch, secured over 500 UK legal cases, gained international clients and expanded her management team to allow for the increased workload.

As a result Abi has also been shortlisted for Nat West Everywoman, Demeter Award for the most inspiring entrepreneur between the ages of 26 and 35.

Her involvement in Big Ideas Wales is the latest initiative aimed at getting young people interested in starting up their own business by creating a ‘can do’ attitude.

Abi spends a lot of her spare time teaching and mentoring business clubs/associations and young budding entrepreneurs. She also sits on the board of Young Enterprise and Women in Management.

Councillor Neil McEvoy, Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council and Chair of CBTC Ltd  said: “We are delighted to see Abi’s company Forensic Resources  Ltd going from strength to strength, she is an inspiration to everyone.”

CBTC gives business development advice and financial support to up and coming businesses. It can also offer administrative and secretarial support to small companies. Tenants benefit from regular free briefings on a range of business, HR and legal issues and networking with other tenants to discuss business opportunities is seen as a key advantage of the centre.

Councillor McEvoy added: “CBTC is a vital resource to give entrepreneurs the chance to develop their businesses in a supportive environment and without the centre we would not be seeing success stories like Abi come through. Cardiff Business Technology Centre continues to assist innovative technology businesses providing attractive flexible space and full business support.”
