Congleton Man awarded by Chief Constable of North Wales Police

Mr Les Wiszniewski has been awarded a Lifelong Recognition Award by the Chief Constable of North Wales Police, Mark Polin, for his support and services to the North Wales Police Self Defence Section over the past 35 years.

Mr Wiszniewski is a professor of oriental arts and one of the countries most senior graded marital arts practitioners. The award was presented on behalf of the Chief Constable by Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Corcoran, himself a student of Mr Wiszniewski and holder of 5th degree black belt in Kung Fu; at a recent grading event in Cheshire.

Mr Wiszniewski has been involved in advising on practical self defence techniques both in North Wales and other forces, nationally and internationally and has been a great support to officers dealing with everyday conflict management. Mr Wiszniewski, a retired school teacher, resides in Congleton with his wife Kathleen (Hudson), who is herself an accomplished martial artist who was also recognised by the club for her dedicated support over many years.

Det Supt Corcoran said “Without doubt the North Wales Police self defence section would not have achieved the success it has enjoyed over the past 35 years without the valued expertise of Professor Wiszniewski. North Wales Police members and their families who have been associated with the club over the years have benefited greatly and are thankful for the friendship and support offered from both Les and his wife Kathleen.”
