Cen Llwyd, Secretary of Talgarreg Memorial Hall getting familiar with the new kitchen layout

Tai Ceredigion was delighted to be part of the big celebrations at Talgarreg Village Hall on the 14th of September as groups, societies and individuals got together for their annual village dinner and to celebrate the installation of a brand new kitchen for the community’s use.

Cen Llwyd, Secretary of Talgarreg Memorial Hall approached Tai Ceredigion to ask if support was available to help the community of Talgarreg to upgrade facilities at their busy village hall. With groups such as Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin, Merched y Wawr, Urdd, Senior Citizens Club and Bowls Club regularly using the community facility it was important that there was proper provision for them all.

“We were delighted to be able to work with our partners and help this thriving community with the upgrading they needed in the village hall. The kitchen is always known as the ‘hub’ of the home and it’s great that we, along with Magnet Contract Kitchens and Jamson Estates have been able to give Talgarreg a helping hand in the hub of their village” said Llyr Edwards, Director of Property Services at Tai Ceredigion.

Since 2009, Tai Ceredigion has been upgrading its homes throughout the county in line with the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. As well as disabled adaptations, bathrooms, windows, doors, heating systems and electrical work have been carried out in over 75% of the properties already and nearly 1,500 kitchens have also been upgraded.  As part of the project, Tai Ceredigion, Magnet Contract Kitchens and Jamsons Estates saw an opportunity to work within the locality with a Community Hall Project to offer help and upgrading of kitchen spaces within Talgarreg Memorial Hall.

Dylan Balchin of Magnet met up with members of the committee so that they could decide on a functional design and style that would suit the space.  “This is exactly how we work with Tai Ceredigion tenants” said Dylan.  “The committee got to choose the style and we worked with them to come up with the best layout to suit their needs.”

“Members of the village hall committee are delighted with the finished product” said Cen Llwyd.  “The cooperation between Tai Ceredigion, Magnet and Jamsons has been fantastic and all the work was done quickly and efficiently ensuring the least disruption for all the societies who use the facilities we have here. Sam Morris of Jamson did an excellent job of the fitting and it really has made our kitchen the envy of many.”
