Davies: Neglect of NHS dentistry continues under Labour-Plaid

Commenting on today’s figures which show that just over half the adult population and two thirds of children received NHS dental treatment in the last two years, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:

“These figures are deeply alarming considering Labour’s promise that everyone would have access to an NHS dentist.

“Despite repeated Assembly Government claims to be investing in NHS dentistry these figures show little sign of significant improvement on previous months.

“There remain long-standing problems in accessing dental care despite ministers promising to make it easier to find an NHS dentist.

“It is no coincidence that with so many people failing to see a dentist in Wales, cases of tooth decay have risen.

“We also need to increase awareness that good dental health has broader implications for overall public health.”
