Davies: Resources vital for cancer services improvement

Welsh Conservatives have called on the Assembly Government to ensure that adequate resources are available for improvements in cancer services and outcomes.

Speaking ahead of the Wales Cancer Conference today, Shadow Minister for Health, Andrew RT Davies AM said:

“The Assembly Government is falling short on cancer services and it is vitally important that improvements are made.

“The Welsh Conservatives have highlighted the promotion of cancer services in Wales on many occasions in the Assembly and have championed the call for a ‘National Coordinator for Cancer Services’ to no avail.

“The Minister has failed to ensure that the objectives for cancer outcomes are being adhered to by local health boards in Wales.

“The Assembly Government must ensure that it makes adequate funding available for health boards to invest in resources for early diagnosis and better treatment outcomes.

“Cancer sufferers in Wales deserve no less.”
