Denbighshire’s Switched on for success

Denbighshire’s Street Lighting team are going to need a bigger trophy cabinet!

The team has now won an award at the Performance Networks events on four consecutive years, including being awarded Best Performer for Street Lighting 2011, which they also won in 2008 and 2009.

They also won Most Improved Performer for Street Lighting in 2010.

In addition, they have also won the APSE annual service awards in the Best Service Team, Highways, Winter Maintenance and Street Lighting category in 2008,2009 & 2011 and the section was also finalist in the WLGA Excellence Wales collaboration category in 2010.

Performance Networks is a benchmarking service operated by APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) and has over 200 local authorities from across the UK as members.

Performance Networks is the largest voluntary performance measurement service for local government and looks at data for 15 front-line services. The Street Lighting category had over 51 submissions from participating authorities throughout the UK and Denbighshire were recognised as the best performing Street Lighting team in the country.

The performance indicators that Performance Networks looks at cost, productivity, customer satisfaction, quality and human resource management giving a comprehensive view of performance.

Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “I am extremely proud of what this team has achieved and I congratulate them all for their continued hard work in ensuring they continue to provide an award winning service to the people of Denbighshire.”
