Dispersal order for Towyn trouble spot

North Wales Police and Conwy County Borough Council have used their powers to rid an area of anti social behaviour.

From 6 am on August 20 North Wales Police and Conwy County Borough Council will operate a dispersal order in a bid to prevent groups congregating on the Promenade and cycle path areas from Pensarn through to Kinmel Bay.

The scheme is aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour and will run until  February 20 2011.

Chief Supt Simon Humphreys of North Wales Police and Phil Rafferty, Conwy County Council have authorised police officers and Police Community Support Officers to disperse groups behaving in an anti-social manner.

The public claim they have been intimidated, harassed, alarmed and  distressed as a result of the presence and behaviour of groups of people gathering, drinking alcohol, fighting, urinating in the street and setting fires in the sand dunes in the vicinity, during late evening and early hours of the morning.

This dispersal order is one of a number of measures being used in the area to tackle anti social behaviour along with the  action being taken by council enforcement and licensing teams.
