Edeyrnion School Review moves to statutory notice phase

Denbighshire County Council is to publish two statutory notices regarding proposals for schools in the Edeyrnion area.

Statutory notices will be published for the following proposals:

Proposal 1 – To create a Welsh medium area school serving the communities of Cynwyd and Llandrillo on the existing school sites from 1 September 2012, moving to a single site in Cynwyd following the completion of extension and refurbishment works. The new school would replace Ysgol Maes Hyfryd in Cynwyd and Ysgol Llandrillo.

Proposal 2 – To close Ysgol Glyndyfrdwy from 31 August, 2012 and transfer pupils to Ysgol y Gwernant, Llangollen, subject to parental preference.

Official public notices will be posted at each of the three schools and will appear in the local press this week and interested parties will have until 13 November to submit their views.

Objections to either proposal should be sent in writing to the Corporate Director: Learning and Communities, Denbighshire County Council, County Hall, Wynnstay Road, Ruthin, LL15 1YN before the 13th November 2011.

If a single objection is received within this time, the final decision on the proposals will be made by the Welsh Government. If no objections are received, the final decision will be taken by Denbighshire’s County Council.
