Fire eaters heat up Mountain Ash

48925-2Fire-eaters lit up the night at a free festive event in Mountain Ash town centre on Monday, December 1.

As well as the fiery fun, around 2,000 people enjoyed more traditional entertainment, including Christmas carols led by choirs from Caegarw Primary School and Providence Baptist Church.

Children enjoyed funfair rides and visits to Santa’s grotto in Mountain Ash Day Centre, run by local volunteers in aid of Mayor Cllr Robert Smith’s chosen charities.

Members of Ultimate Dance Group also took part in the parade and Mayor’s consort Mrs Margaret Smith joined the sleigh ride into town with Santa Claus and his reindeer.

“I’m pleased that the rather rainy night didn’t put people off coming out to enjoy the festivities. Many thanks to everyone who made the evening such a success,” said Cllr Smith.

The free event was organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Events team as part of their winter programme and supported by Darran Las Communities First.
