Flint RNLI crew called out as man threatens to jump into River Dee

The police requested the assistance of RNLI Flint lifeboat to attend Connahs Quay port together with the Fire Service, Coastguard and Ambulance when a man in a distressed state threatened to jump into the River Dee.

The lifeboat was requested at 11.30 by Liverpool Coastguard, and launched at Connahs Quay Ski Club at 11.50.

The man eventually was detained by police at around 13.35, the lifeboat was recovered at 13.40 returned to Flint and was ready for service at 14.15.

Alan Forrester, volunteer lifeboat operations manager at Flint praised the crew for their immediate response, and went on to thank the crew’s employers for allowing them to respond to daytime calls.

Alan continued most people are aware that the RNLI is a voluntary organisation supported by voluntary donations, not all donations are in money, and we must not forget the generosity of employers releasing volunteer RNLI crew from their paid employment.
