Flintshire weather updates inc. school closures – 7th Jan 2010

For safety reasons there will be no school transport operating in Flintshire or Denbighshire today (Thursday 7th January).

The following schools have confirmed that they are closed on Thursday 7th January:

  • Flint, Ysgol Croes Atti
  • Flint, Ysgol Maes Hyfryd
  • Gwernaffield, Ysgol y Waun
  • Gwespyr Picton, Ysgol Mornant
  • Hawarden Infants School
  • Hawarden, Rector Drew CW Voluntary Aided School
  • Holywell, Ysgol Gwenffrwd
  • Holywell, Ysgol Maes Glas – Greenfield
  • Hope, Ysgol Estyn Community School
  • Llanfynydd Community Primary School
  • Mold, Ysgol Maes Garmon

Parents are advised to check the Council web site for the latest details of all school closures from 0800 on Thursday 7th January.

Social Services for Adults
All the Council’s day centres for older people will remain closed, and transport to those centres has been cancelled. Service users have been contacted individually about their care needs.

Some transport is operating for people who go to other centres for younger adults, and some centres are open.  Service users are being contacted individually about their arrangements.

Housing
Emergency housing repairs are being prioritised to ensure the most critical cases are dealt with first.

Leisure Centres
All 6 leisure centres are open.

Libraries
Flintshire’s main libraries are open at Broughton, Buckley, Connah’s Quay, Flint, Holywell and Mold. They will remain open as long as weather conditions permit.  If travelling you are advised to telephone the library before setting out. Please also telephone smaller libraries to check that they are open before you visit.

There has been no mobile library or housebound services operating today.
