George: Energy firm’s warning “should prompt Labour action”

Commenting on evidence given to last week’s Environment committee – in which energy firms warned of the Welsh Government’s ‘confusing’ and ‘slow’ planning process – Shadow Minister for Environment Russell George AM said:

“This is more proof of what the Welsh Conservatives have been saying all along – the planning process is not fit for purpose and should be urgently reviewed.

“Today’s warning from Scottish Power is extremely worrying and should prompt action from Labour. Losing this kind of investment would be a huge blow for Wales that would not just impact upon the renewable energy industry here, but the economy as a whole.

“At the moment, confusion reigns. TAN 8 invited companies to invest, yet now they face a brick wall of misunderstanding and uncertainty”.
