Give a Book to Celebrate World Book Day

DYLL_Facebook_2014_2 (2)To celebrate World Book Day this year, the Welsh Books Council and publishers in Wales have joined forces to offer great discounts on fantastic books which make ideal gifts for children.

A wide range of children’s books are available at bargain prices, and the Welsh Books Council is encouraging everyone to visit their local bookshop to check out the super-duper books on offer.

Angharad Tomos, Reading Promotions Project Manager at the Books Council, said:

‘World Book Day is a great celebration of books and reading, and what better way of celebrating the occasion than giving a gift of a book. The benefits of reading to your child are enormous and it’s vital that children and young people are inspired to read.’

The Give a Book campaign is also supported by S4C this year. Gareth Delve, a popular TV presenter of Welsh-language children’s programmes, said:

‘With a book, you can have an adventure without leaving the house!’

Join in World Book Day celebrations this year by giving a book as a special gift. Offers are available at your local bookshop or gwales.com between 3–22 March to celebrate World Book Day which is held this year on 6 March 2014.
