Gwynedd all set for Radio 1’s Big Weekend

Gwynedd is all set to play host to the UK’s biggest free-ticketed live music event with the spotlight firmly fixed on the Faenol Estate – the stunning stage for this year’s Radio 1’s Big Weekend.

Over the weekend, forty thousand people are expected to attend the event which will be broadcast live on Radio 1, BBC television and online.

Gwynedd Council Leader, Councillor Dyfed Edwards said: “With the mountains of Snowdonia as its backdrop, the Faenol has got to be the most dramatic setting ever for the Big Weekend and the perfect opportunity for us to showcase what Gwynedd has to offer.

“We’re very proud to welcome some of the world’s top artists to Gwynedd and delighted that we have been able to work together with Radio 1 to make sure that the event is a resounding success which will leave a lasting positive legacy for the area.

“More and more people are recognising that Gwynedd is the ideal location in which to stage events like the Big Weekend, and that the Council and our partners have the expertise and commitment to help deliver truly world-class events.”
