Welsh Conservatives today welcomed the news that the Airbus plant at Broughton in Flintshire will play a key role in building 22 of the A400M aircraft.
The announcement was made by David Cameron as part of the UK Government’s Strategic Defence and Security Review.
Assembly Member for North Wales, Mark Isherwood said, “This announcement will be greeted with delight by many communities in North East Wales.
“This represents a considerable investment in North East Wales by the UK Government, which will come as a welcome boost to the local economy.
“These aircraft will help support our armed forces to transport resources around the world.
“I am pleased that the highly skilled workers in Broughton have had confirmation of their key role in this exciting development which will make great strides in securing the defence of the nation.”
