Jewellery collection stolen from Cardiff pensioner

Police in Cardiff are appealing for information after a home of an elderly lady was burgled.

The woman, who is in her 70s, is devastated that a large quantity of jewellery, including her engagement and eternity rings, has been stolen.

Detective Constable Owain Morrison from the Cardiff West Burglary Team said: “The lady returned home to Cefn Road in Llandaff North at around lunchtime last Thursday after doing some errands to find her home had been entered and an untidy search had been carried out.

“A large amount of jewellery of sentimental value was stolen including some irreplaceable items which were gifts more than 50 years ago.

“Being a victim of burglary can have a devastating effect and this lady is extremely distressed by what has taken place.

South Wales Police is doing all we can to catch those responsible and hopefully find the stolen jewellery, so it can be returned.

“I am asking for the assistance of the community and would urge anyone with information to contact us.”
