Money and energy advice at Bonymaen event

Experts will be on hand at Bonymaen Communities First later this week to give advice to residents on managing finances and ways to save energy.

The free event takes place at the Caernarvon Way offices on Wednesday (October 14) from 1pm to 5.30pm.

It will feature information on savings and loans as well as advice on how people and households can reduce their carbon footprint.

Swansea Citizens Advice Bureau will be on hand from 2pm to 4pm and local mums will be unveiling a piece of mosaic artwork that they’ve been working on.

The event will coincide with the launch of the LASA Credit Union Community Collection Point- a scheme where people can get advice on loans and deposit money at the Community First offices instead of having to visit a pay point.

Free membership is available to all people who open a new savings account on the day with a minimum of £5. Proof of ID and address will also be required to open an account.

Swansea Council is behind the event.

Free arts and crafts activities are taking place throughout the day.

Shaz Abedean, Bonymaen Communities First co-ordinator, said: “The Community Collection Point will be warmly received by many people in the community because it offers face-to-face contact and advice and could be far more convenient than a trip to a pay point.

“The launch of the scheme has also allowed us to arrange an event that will give money and energy saving tips to people who attend because these have become far more important issues to many people in recent times in light of the credit crunch.

“We’re hopeful of a strong turnout.”
