Money Stolen in Street Robbery: Treforest

South Wales Police are appealing to the public for information after a robbery which occurred at approximately 12.50 today in Treforest (Tuesday, May 3rd).

An employee from a local business was robbed of thousands of pounds as he walked along Lewis Street, Pontypridd, to bank takings from his place of work.

The 35 year-old was kicked and punched to the ground, and a rucksack he was carrying which contained money was snatched.

The offender made off in a vehicle which was waiting nearby.

The victim was admitted to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for treatment to minor injuries such as a cut to his head.

Detective Sergeant Nick Jenkins said: “We believe this robbery was planned by the person or people responsible. We also believe those responsible may have been in the area for some time prior to the incident occurring so appeal to anyone who thinks they may have any information, regardless how insignificant it may seem, to contact us.”

Anyone who may have been in the area of Lewis Street during the morning, who may have noticed anything suspicious, is urged to contact Talbot Green Police Station via 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
