Clwyd West MP, David Jones, yesterday welcomed children and teachers from Ysgol Pen y Bryn, Colwyn Bay, to Westminster in support of the ‘Send My Friend to School’ Campaign.

The visitors were taken on a tour of Parliament before visiting Mr Jones at the Wales Office, Gwydyr House and then proceeding to Downing Street with a representative from the charity Action Aid, where they delivered their letters in support of the Campaign.

Mr Jones said:

‘This campaign is extremely important. The right to education is an essential element of achieving our Millennium Development Goals.

‘Ysgol Pen y Bryn has made huge efforts over several years to participate in this campaign and it is encouraging to see the pupils taking such strong interest in it.’

Ysgol Pen y Bryn have been working with Action Aid for a number of years to encourage world leaders to focus on this important Millennium Development Goal and are already planning their next petition in support of the campaign.
