Neath welcomes Food and Drink Festival

Food and drink connoisseurs from across Wales will get another chance to sample the delights of Neath’s Food & Drink Festival when it returns this Saturday October 9th from 9.30am to 5.00pm in Neath Town Centre.

The festival which attracted over 30 traders last year offered a range of stalls that lined the streets of Neath. This year’s event will have cookery demonstrations at St David’s church hosted by Sian Hindle of La Crème Patisserie who will be cooking up some mouth watering recipes including raspberry shortbread stacks and Christmas gifts such as truffles and macaroons.

For the health conscious there will be free one to one dietary advice from qualified Dieticians and Nutritional Therapists and an opportunity for you to learn how to make your own low or even fat free takeaway curry and naan bread. Other recipes on the menu for demonstration include mussels in taffy apple cider, game and rabbit stew, sausage hotpot, and autumn fruit compote crumble.

Festival organiser Ian Hindle said “The food producers taking part in this year’s festival have a tremendous passion and knowledge of their food products and care about the quality and process of the items they provide. By supporting these producers you will receive the freshest and tastiest offerings whilst supporting local suppliers and businesses at the same time.”

During the day there will also be children’s cookery, a flower arranging workshop, cup cake decorating, nail art, face painting, and street dance. In fact, something for everyone! Bay Radio 102.1 will be broadcasting live throughout the day with a mixture of music, information competitions to keep everyone entertained.

Leader of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council Ali Thomas said, “The Neath Food and Drink Festival has now established itself as one of the premiere events in the NPT October calendar.

“It is a great opportunity for local producers and suppliers to showcase their food talents and an opportunity for the community to enjoy an array of home grown fresh produce.”
