HWB launch smallA scheme that will provide educational and employment opportunities for young people in Denbigh is getting ready to open its doors.

HWB Dinbych, which has been constructed on the former Autoworld site on Smithfield Road, will provide a range of support services for local people from in and around the Denbigh area.

The centre, which is due to open in August, will be managed by housing association Grŵp Cynefin, and is a partnership project with Denbighshire County Council’s youth services and housing departments, Grŵp Llandrillo Menai, and Denbigh Youth Project.

Mair Edwards, Grŵp Cynefin’s community development manager, said: “The primary aim of HWB Dinbych is to increase training and employment opportunities locally.

“This will be achieved by working closely with local businesses, setting up self-employment initiatives, developing local enterprise opportunities and supporting young people into further learning.

“We have had a fantastic response from local businesses, 30 of which have already signed up to support us in developing a local job match scheme”

HWB Dinbych will also feature four teaching rooms, a music studio, workshop space, IT room, teaching kitchen and a multi-purpose room that can host a variety of activities including fitness classes, meetings and youth clubs.

The scheme includes six flats for young people to support and prepare them for independent living.

Walis George, chief executive of Grŵp Cynefin, said: “As well as supporting young people, we’re proud to have transformed a long-neglected site in the heart of Denbigh into a facility that will provide long-lasting benefits for the whole community.

“We’re proud of the partnership model which has enabled this project to come into fruition, and also demonstrates our commitment as an organisation to our regeneration and community initiatives.”

HWB Dinbych will open its doors on the 6th and 13th of August, giving the local community an opportunity to see the building and its facilities.
