New mobility hire service opens at bus station

A new service which provides people with mobility scooters in Swansea city centre will open its doors to the public later this month.

Swansea Mobility Hire will be based at the new city bus station and will replace Shopmobility as the provider of mobility aids for people visiting the city centre.

The new service will feature a wide range of services including providing powered scooters, wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs to help people who have limited mobility.

A Changing Places facility is also provided to help meet the specialised needs of people with profound and multiple learning and physical disabilities and their carers.

A 30-space dedicated car park has also been created which means those using the service can park their vehicles near the new location.

Lisa Wells, City Centre Manager in Swansea, said: “Swansea Mobility Hire is perfectly placed to provide those that have mobility problems with the highest level of service.

“Locating Swansea Mobility Hire at the new city bus station development means that service users can use either public transport or their own vehicles to access what’s on offer and this will make it very accessible.

“I’m confident those using the new service will benefit greatly from the new location.”

Swansea Mobility Hire will operate from Swansea City Bus Station on Saturday 26 March.
