New Tenant Board member is welcomed at local housing association’s AGM

Tai Ceredigion held its third Annual General Meeting at the end of July at Tŷ Glyn in Ciliau Aeron. Over 50 people from tenants, councillors and representatives of partner organisations saw Jane Wakeham, a tenant from Llanddewi Brefi welcomed to the housing association’s Board. The tenant Board member position become available after Michael Jones, a tenant from Aberystwyth stood down last year.

Jane Wakeham said “I am delighted to have been elected onto the Tai Ceredigion Board and look forward to voicing the opinions of the tenants in any future decisions of the organisation.”

The AGM also saw a number of other changes to the Board as the Chair, Councillor Hag Harris stood down from the Board. During his address at the Annual General Meeting, Councillor Harris said “Thank you to everyone at Tai Ceredigion for the support they have given me. It has been an interesting challenge and I have learnt skills here that I will apply elsewhere.” Earlier this summer Ceredigion County Council Leader Councillor Ellen Ap Gwynn and Councillor Alun Williams also stepped down from the Board and were replaced by Councillor Catrin Miles of Cardigan and Councillor Odwyn Davies of Olmarch.

Jim Scanlan, the Chair of the Tai Ceredigion’s Tenants Monitoring Group said “We would like to thank Councillor Hag Harris for all his hard work as Chairman, both before and after the transfer of our homes. He has dedicated a lot of time into establishing the housing association and we as tenants appreciate it whole heartily.”

Steve Jones, Chief Executive of Tai Ceredigion said “We would like to thank all retiring Board members for their voluntary time and effort. We pride ourselves on having a strong Board which we can draw on a wealth of experience.

We would like to welcome Jane Wakeham and look forward to working with her. We would also like to congratulate and welcome Stephen Cripps to his new role as Chairman and to thank Gay McFee for her continued role as Vice Chair. Now we look forward to the appointment of a new Council nominee Board member. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for all their hard work during the last year.”
