Parents of children who are due to start either part time or full time school in 2011 are reminded that they need to submit their written applications for a school place by the 30th April 2010.
Applications must be made for all school places, even if you are living within the school’s catchment area.
“It doesn’t matter if you already have three children in the school or live right next to it!” said Councillor Huw George, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People, Learning and the Welsh Language.
“Every single school place must be applied for in writing. It is essential that you apply for a school place before the end of April, if your child is due to start in 2011.”
Applying in writing by the closing date will improve the chance of a child getting a place at the parents’ preferred school.
If there are more admission applications than places available at the requested school, applications submitted in writing before the deadline will be considered before late applications.
“This is really important – if there are more applications than places, the written applications submitted before the deadline will take priority,” said Cllr George.
