Police Appeal for Witnesses to Ystalyfera Fire

South Wales PolicePolice in Neath Port Talbot are appealing for information following a fire which happened in Ynysydarren Road, Ystalyfera during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 25th June).

Emergency services were called shortly before 1am when some rubbish was set on fire next to the former Ystalyfera Police Station which then spread, causing minor damage to the building.

Detective Inspector Trudi Meyrick of Neath CID said: “We believe that some rubbish has been deliberately set alight and the fire has then spread, causing some minor damage to the outside of the building and smoke damage inside.

“We are appealing for witnesses who may have seen anyone near the old police station in Ystalyfera during Tuesday evening upto around 1am when the fire was discovered.”
