Police Appeal – Robbery in Port Talbot

South Wales PolicePolice in Port Talbot are appealing for information following an incident which occurred at around 9.30am this morning (Monday 16th June).

A 74 year old lady was walking along Sandown Road in Port Talbot when she was approached from behind and a bag she was carrying was snatched from her grip. The thief then made off along a lane behind Dalton Road and was last seen crossing the road near the Labour Club in the direction of the nursing home opposite.

The suspect is described as male, white, approximately 5’10” tall and of slim build.  He was wearing a dark grey baseball cap, and dressed all in black – a black fleece jacket and dark or black jeans or trousers.

Detective Constable Jacquetta Jones of Neath CID said: “This was a very distressing incident for the victim of this theft.  It happened in broad daylight and on a busy road.  I am appealing for anyone who may have seen someone answering the description of the suspect in the area during Monday morning to contact us.

“I also want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident.”
