North Wales Police are appealing to Tremadog pub goers who took photographs whilst they were out on Friday night to come forward to help in the investigation into the murder of 22 year old Ffion Wyn Roberts.
As part of the on going investigation over 100 officers are continuing to conduct searches, talk to local people and carry out forensic work.
Many people who were at the three local pubs – the Union, the Fleece and the Madoc – have already come forward with information and photographs taken on mobile phones, but officers believe that there may be more available.
Anyone who was at one of the pubs on Friday, but who has not yet spoken to Police is urged to do so as soon as possible as they may have information that would assist the investigation.
Detective Superintendent Peter Chalinor, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “The support from local people has been tremendous and we are very grateful to everyone who has come forward so far. There may however be other people who were out on Friday night who may have taken photographs and we would like to hear from them. There may just be something that they can tell us or we can see from an image that might help the investigation.”
Officers are also keen to hear from any householders or businesses in Tremadog or Porthmadog who have CCTV cameras which were active on Friday night and the early hours of Saturday and which may show some of the street scene.
Detective Superintendent Chalinor said: “We are keen to see any images taken in the area at the time and I would ask anyone who has private CCTV on their property to contact us as soon as possible.”
Family Liaison Officers are continuing to support Ffion’s parents, Idris and Bethan, her younger brother Elgan and their extended family at their Porthmadog home.
Her family are continuing to appeal to the media to respect their need for privacy at this very difficult time. Ffion, who was single and worked as a carer in a local residential home, was last seen in the Union public house, Tremadog, at about 3.30am on Saturday, April 10.
She is believed to have made her way home on foot along Church Street to Porthmadog and although many witnesses have already come forward, North Wales Police remain anxious to speak to anyone who may have seen her.
Anyone who was in Tremadog or Porthmadog between 9pm on Friday, April 9, and 8am on Saturday, April 10, is asked to contact the incident room on 01745 538474 or to contact the Force on 101.
North Wales Police are maintaining a highly visible, increased presence in Tremadog and Porthmadog. All lines of enquiries are being immediately followed up as the specialist team dedicated to the investigation work to establish the facts behind Ffion’s murder.
Detective Superintendent Chalinor said: “The person or persons responsible have as yet not been arrested. We will continue to invest a large amount of resources into the investigation, but local people also have to act responsibly. There is nothing at the moment to suggest that this incident is related to any other, neither is there anything to suggest that this was anything other than a one off attack, but nevertheless it is prudent to advise local people to be vigilant and not to walk alone late at night or during the early hours of the morning.”
