Presentations All Round

At the recent Aberdyfi RNLI Lifeboat Station annual dinner, several presentations were made, both to the station and to some of the long-standing volunteer personnel.

Long service medals were presented to Paul Edwards and Meurig Lumley, each of them having given over 30 years of volunteer service to the RNLI in Aberdyfi. Ian Andrews was presented with a Certificate of Service in recognition of the 13 years he had served on the crew.

An extra presentation was also made that evening – a cheque for £5,000 was handed to the Aberdyfi RNLI Lifeboat Station by Bobby Nickless of the West Midlands Police Service.

The Wolverhampton section of the West Midlands Police organise a charity cycle ride from Wolverhampton to Aberdyfi every year and last year chose Aberdyfi’s RNLI Lifeboat Station as their nominated charity. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations such as this to maintain its rescue service.

Mr Nickless was thanked by Dave Williams and Brian Bates of the Aberdyfi RNLI and asked to extend the station’s appreciation to all those involved in the cycle ride and the fundraising.
