Report praises Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern

Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern has just received an excellent report from schools inspectors ESTYN.

The inspectors said called Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern ‘a good inclusive school which is strongly committed to continuing improvement.’

Based on the ESTYN schools inspection framework, the school gained 4 Grade 1s and 3 Grade 2s.

Results in tests, statutory assessments and performance in external examinations in 2009 were also praised.  The inspectors said that results in the Sixth Form over a three year period were ‘outstanding’.

The ESTYN reported also highlighted numerous other outstanding features including standards of pupils’ information and communications teaching skills throughout the school; Key Skills in the 6th form; standards of learners’ bilingual skills throughout the school, standards in pupils’ and students’ cultural, social and moral development; the quality of relationships between teachers and pupils; and all pupils’ and students’ behaviour.

A delight heateacher, Mrs Annwen Morgan said, “The school is extremely proud of this report, which is recognition of the very good team work that exists in Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern to ensure the best possible education for our pupils and students.

She added, “The aim of the school is to continue with the excellent work and welcome every pupil and student who wishes to receive a good bilingual education.  Next year the number of students in the Sixth Form will be the highest that it has ever been.”

Education portfolio holder, Councillor Goronwy O Parry MBE, also welcomed the report, adding, “This ESTYN report is testimony to the excellent standards maintained at Ysgol Uwchradd Bodedern.”
