Rhyl Robbery: Update

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to a robbery that occurred at a building society in Rhyl last week.

At approx. 19:10hrs on Friday, 9th October a robbery occurred at the Halifax on Russell Road, whereby two males forced entry into the property whilst security guards were within delivering to the premises.

Two offenders have alighted a vehicle parked in a car park at the side of the building society, and ran to the front of the property where forced entry was made via the main entrance.

The men are described as follows. The first man is described as being approx. 6’4” to 6’5” tall, lanky / medium build, wearing a black balaclava, and dark clothing.

The second man is described as being approx. 5’8” to 5’9” tall, of stocky build and was wearing a black balaclava and dark clothing.

As a result of enquiries, police are appealing to the public in tracing a red coloured Ford Focus C-Max car.

We believe that this vehicle travelled on roads within Rhyl town for some time before the attack that evening. The vehicle contained at least two men.

Following the attack it is known that the vehicle travelled along Bath Street, Brighton Road and was last seen travelling along Grange Road towards the Rhyl FC football ground.

Police believe that the vehicle may have turned off Grange Road prior to the football ground and used side streets to make the escape.

The vehicle may have been driven erratically and would possibly have attracted attention.

Despite an extensive search the police have not found the vehicle which may have been abandoned in the area.

A police spokesman said: “It is not uncommon for offenders to use stolen vehicles to commit such offences and abandon such vehicles soon after their getaway. We would appeal to anyone who has seen such a vehicle to contact us immediately.”
