A Swansea shop assistant has been named the best in the west when it comes to skincare.
Lesley Walsh, of The Body Shop in the city’s busy Quadrant Centre, has just been appointed the company’s Regional Skincare Expert for the West Midlands, which includes Wales.
Lesley, who has worked at the Body Shop store for more than five years, has been training hard prior to taking up her new role.
And the 49-year-old mum of one, says she is delighted to have made the grade as a Skin Care Expert for the world’s second largest beauty franchise.
She said: “I have always been interested in skincare, most women are I suppose, and I really enjoy talking to and helping our customers here at our Quadrant store.
“I have undergone a thorough in-store training programme on skin care and the products we sell at Body Shop.
“As a Regional Skin Care Expert for the West Midlands Region it might be I have to help out at other stores but I will be mainly based here at Swansea and, being a Swansea girl from Cockett, that suits me!
“I have no idea why Swansea falls into the West Midlands Region but to be fair the regions are very large and, after all, what’s in a name?”
And according to Lesley her new role can only help her many regular customers.
She said: “We do have a really loyal customer base here at the Quadrant. Mind you it’s a great company to work for and my colleagues, there are eight of us including Saturday staff, get on really well too and I think that comes across. There is a really nice atmosphere in the store.
“I really enjoy helping someone get the most out of our products. And while our Vitamin E skin cream is our most popular product there are creams and lotions to suit every woman’s needs.
“I think women in general want to feel better about themselves and enjoy looking good. Skin care products, used properly, can have a massively beneficial effect on how a woman looks and feels.”
She added: “Even my own daughter, Catherine, who is 23, is now coming to me for advice and that makes me feel really good!”
The Quadrant Shopping Centre’s Body Shop manager, Jessica Hamling, says having a Skin Care Expert on hand is a big boost for her store.
She said: “Without doubt it’s a huge benefit to our customers and Lesley’s colleagues. Lesley has worked really hard throughout the training programme which involved a great deal of hard work.
“We enjoy a great relationship with a lot of loyal, dedicated customers here at our Quadrant store and Lesley’s knowledgeable ideas and her skills as a skin care expert are of real benefit. It’s wonderful having someone with her talents as part of our store team.”
