South Wales runners brave icy weather to raise vital funds for the RNLI

Sunday 28th November 2010 saw the annual RNLI Reindeer Run at Margam Park, Port Talbot. 892 people braved the icy temperatures (hovering around minus 3 degrees) and took part in the 10K, 5K runs and 5K Santa Saunter fundraising event around the park.

Port Talbot volunteer crew member Rebecca Owen, together with her sister Rhiannon Williams, took part in the 10K Reindeer Run to help raise vital funds for the charity that saves lives at sea. Rhiannon completed the race in 1 hour 14 minutes. Other volunteer members of Port Talbot Lifeboat Station helped out on the day by supporting the runners and marshalling the event.

It was a beautiful sunny day apart from the freezing temperature but everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly and a great deal of money would have been raised for the RNLI.
