Vote 2011 roadshow makes its mark in Neath

Vote 2011 roadshow to stop off in Neath as part of Wales-wide drive to encourage people to vote.

The National Assembly for Wales’ Outreach bus will stop-off in Angel Square, Neath, on 3 December, as part of our Vote 2011 campaign.

It aims to provide objective non-partisan information to Welsh voters about the three votes they face at the ballot box next year, as well as information about the work that the National Assembly carries out, on a daily basis, representing the interests of Wales and its people, making laws for Wales and holding the Welsh Government to account.

2011 is a year when:

  • A referendum will be held on 3 March to ask whether the National Assembly should have increased law-making powers;
  • On 5 May, there will be the National Assembly election to decide who should represent us in the Senedd in Cardiff Bay.
  • On the same day as the Assembly elections, we’ll be asked whether we should elect our MPs at Westminster through a different system of voting.

“It’s a very important year for us all next year,” said Presiding Officer, Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM.

“We are going to be asked to not only choose who represents us in the Senedd but also whether those elected representatives should have more powers to make Welsh laws.

“That’s why we want to get to every part of Wales beforehand to make sure that the people of Wales have as much impartial information as possible in order to make their choice.

“Our outreach bus is packed full of interactive facilities that allows people to directly communicate with their local Assembly Member, Assembly Committees and even submit views on on-going inquiries.

“So please come along and find out more about the work of the National Assembly for Wales because next year you’ll be asked whether we should have further powers.”
