Street dancers make the top ten

Two Pembrokeshire teams stepped up to the mark at a recent national street dance championships.

Two teams from Sir Thomas Picton School in Haverfordwest competed at the British Schools Street Dance Finals in Stoke on Trent earlier this month.

In the Years 10-13 age group category, Freakum – Laura Venables, Rose Lagrosas, Sahana Sekaran, Eleri Buck, Monique Parsley, Eleanor Crane, Grandezza Aburido and Bethan Davies –  were placed 9th out of 31 schools.

Ghetto Soldiers – Kim Tiglao, Robyn Bergson, Abbie Severn and Kamille Tiglao – were also placed 9th out of 35 schools in the Years 7-9 age group category.

Both teams had qualified to represent Welsh Schools after being placed 6th and 2nd respectively at the Welsh Schools Street Dance Finals in Cardiff earlier this year.

Sport Pembrokeshire 5×60 Officer Matthew Freeman said it was great to see the teams perform exceptionally well on the day and receive such positive feedback from the judges.

“Both teams have worked exceptionally hard choreographing their routines over the past three months and deserve the plaudits of being in the top ten best street dance teams in Britain for their age groups.”
